Join us this Sunday, June 7 at 5pm at the Big Four Bridge for a Muslim Solidarity Prayer for Black Lives. As a Muslim community, we stand with our Black Muslim and non-Muslim Brothers and Sisters who are on the frontlines fighting against systemic racism and police brutality. We stand in solidarity with them, and we join their call for action.
As the Holy Qura’an reminds us in the verse 4:135: “O you who have believed! Stand out firmly for justice, as witnesses to Allah, even though it be against yourselves, or your parents, or your kin, be he rich or poor, Allah is a Better Protector to both (than you). So follow not the lusts (of your hearts), lest you may avoid justice, and if you distort your witness or refuse to give it, verily, Allah is Ever Well-Acquainted with what you do.”
We will be praying Salah Qada’ al-Hajjeh (2 Raka’aat), followed by Dua’a, and line of Black Muslim and non-Muslim speakers. Br. Rashaad Abdur-Rahman will be leading the prayer. Thus far, our speakers include: Sr. Janene Shakir, State Representative Attica Scott, Metro Council District 4 Candidate and Local organizer Jecorey Arthur, and a BLM Representative.
The prayer & event will take place in the field in front of the Big Four Bridge. Volunteers will be there to assist in coordination and direction.
Social distancing will be enforced, each attendee will be placed 6 ft apart. Masks are required.
